I actually enjoyed taking summer school classes in high school and at the college level. The instruction was condensed because of the shorter term, which incentivized the teacher and the students to get with the program. I also discovered that the best teachers were the ones who signed up for summer instruction, mostly because they were dedicated, although I’m sure the extra pay was a nice bonus. Nice work, Mr. Marolla. I hope you and other proponents are right about the benefits of ai outweighing the risks, and you’re right that there’s nothing we can do to stop this locomotive (or put the genie back in the bottle, or return the horse to the barn).

The extra $$ is good - not great - and it’s funny because we have a really good group of teachers for the summer session.

One of the nice things is we can teach what we want so I go full conspiracy connection to the literature. It makes it more interesting to me, and to the curious students in the class.

Conspiracy connection? Do you mean something like Shakespeare was really Marlowe?

Not really - more like the short story “Harrison Bergeron” is the template that the new world order has been following for a while.
